Tequila of the Week #88 - Montagave (Las Rocas) Blanco

A first in the tequila world, this HP blanco from Montagave is rested in a custom-made 10-ton concrete egg—an unconventional nod to old-world wine-making techniques. The concrete subtly raises the pH, unlocking layers of minerality, while gentle micro-oxygenation enhances structure and mouthfeel.

Bottled at 45% ABV, ‘Las Rocas’ explodes out of the glass with notes of agave, citrus, and honey. The characteristic viscosity that you have come to associate with tequilas out of 1123 is there along with hits of pepper, and a finish that leaves bold cooked agave notes in the mouth.

I have tried a number of high proof blancos of late, but this one might be in the conversation for my favorite. The back label has a spot to write in the event you celebrate or people you shared the bottle with in a way to make memories which I think is a cool addition.
